Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic version of Hatha yoga set to cool, relaxing music, offering everybody aplayful and joyful way into the practice. Connecting the breath with the movement we create a mindful flow from one posture into the next, working on building strength, flexibility, balance and postural alignment. I trained as a yoga teacher in 1999 with Duncan Hulin at The Devon School of Yoga and have recently completed a four year course with Paul Harvey at the Centre of Yoga Studies. The style of yoga whichI am learning, teaching and practising is based on the teachings of Krishnamacharya. This style of yoga has been called Viniyoga, meaning the appropriate application for the individual.

Katharine West teaches yoga classes of an hour and a half that are easily managed by complete beginners and those that have practiced yoga more regularly. So people of all abilities can attend. Theyoga classes start with warm-up exercises and then move into classical yoga postures. This is then followed by breathing techniques, called pranayama techniques and then a final deep relaxation. The effect of my classes are to stretch the body but also to create clarity and calmness of the mind.
I have been trained to teach yoga with the Devon School of Yoga and have been teaching for over a year. I like to teach the holistic, eclectic style that Duncan Hulin advocates on the Devon teachertraining course. I have been influenced by a love for Ashtanga yoga and like to complement that dynamic style with a deep focus on our breath and the present moment.

I live in Falmouth, Cornwall and have been teaching Yoga for more than twelve years.
