Hatha yoga emphasizes the physical aspect of the practice and has the potential to bring many benefits including a stronger more flexible body, less tension and better posture. As well as the physicalbenefits, Yoga encourages us to live more consciously with greater awareness and as such can bring benefits to all aspects of daily life. Yoga is not a religion but some practitioners find that practicing yoga enhances and supports their own religious or spiritual beliefs.
I was first introduced to yoga whilst pregnant with my first child (now 24) and continued sporadically for a few years. I had sustained a lower back injury in my early teenage years, and after my 3rdpregnancy my back became unbearable. At that point I started a dedicated yoga practice; gradually my pain disappeared and has never returned. Yoga also helped me through an extremely difficult emotional period of my life, providing solace and strength.
My name is Fleur Mondanipoor and I am a fully qualified, insured yoga alliance Hatha flow yoga teacher. I had a wonderful alternative upbringing by my hippy mum which inspired me to explore dance andmusic from a very early age. I have always found peace and pleasure in movement and music. I studied Dance and advanced Fitness training but found my true passion in yoga. I have a diploma in exercise to music including anatomy and physiology.
I began to attend yoga classes 15 years ago and was fortunate to have had some very good teachers. Initially, yoga did not mean a great deal to me as I regarded it as little more than a form ofexercise. Over the years I began to notice some improvements in my posture and more particularly, in my breathing. This spurred me on and I continued attend various workshops, where I expanded my interest in yoga. Over time my own practice became regular and yoga became a way of life.
Classes are taught by experienced and qualified British Wheel of Yoga teachers who are passionate about the benefits of making yoga part of your life. Practising yoga is a fantastic way of workingwith the body and mind: you could be looking to increase fitness and muscle tone, manage and reduce stress, or simply have some time to yourself and relax.
We're really happy to have our wonderful dynamic yoga teacher Sebastian back in Blackheath over the Summer, and that he will be offering a Summer yoga course from the end of July through August onbringing Shtiram Sukham (comfort in stability) into your yoga practice.
If you want to enjoy Yoga in the home then I am available for one to one classes at hourly rates. This is often the best way to learn and progress with your practice as I am able to give you undividedattention! I also teach pre and post natal yoga classes in your own home or classes available at my home too.
