Sibylla Chan has spent a lifetime learning about yoga and discovering its amazing results. Here's how her relationship with the ancient practice developed and why she is spreading the word. Myexperience of yoga is based on a lifetime of practice, teaching and applying its principles to the practical demands of modern living. Alongside a busy secondary school teaching career, teaching science and modern languages, I ran yoga classes during evening and weekends.
I trained as a yoga teacher in 1999 with Duncan Hulin at The Devon School of Yoga and have recently completed a four year course with Paul Harvey at the Centre of Yoga Studies. The style of yoga whichI am learning, teaching and practising is based on the teachings of Krishnamacharya. This style of yoga has been called Viniyoga, meaning the appropriate application for the individual.
The studio has been carefully designed to offer a tranquil space in which to take off your shoes and enjoy the practice of yoga. We offer a full timetable of daily classes in a range of yoga styles.We have classes for all levels of experience: from complete beginners to more experienced practitioners.
Solaris Yoga was founded in 2015 by Dr Shilpa Kulkarni. Solaris Yoga is situated in Plymouth, ideally located for students living in Plymouth, Tavistock, Ivebridge, Totnes, Wembury and around. Classesare small enough to ensure personal attention and large enough to create an inspiring group energy. Students of all levels are welcome, from beginners to more advanced practitioners. Jess began practicing Yoga in 2010 as a means to release stresses caused by her busy career, and found a strong draw to the unique experience Yoga practice provides. As a result she was inspired toshare this experience with family and friends and went on to study with the British School of Yoga, to qualify in teaching Adult Hatha Yoga, Pre and Post Natal yoga.
I have been teaching yoga since 2003. My yoga teaching is a blend of the traditional hatha yoga I have practised and learnt over many years, combined with up-to-date sports science information. Istarted practising yoga back in 1995 when I was pregnant as I found I was unable to continue the climbing, running and mountain biking I had been doing. I was surprised to find that yoga enabled me to stay as strong and fit during pregnancy as I had been before.
Introduced to Yoga by my Mother at a young age, I soon developed a love of Yoga that has continued throughout my life. After having my two son's, I was lucky enough to be able to train for my TeachingDiploma with the British Wheel of Yoga and achieved this in January 2007.
I was first introduced to Yoga by Rhada Ireland during a holiday on the Greek island of Skyros, in 1991, where I began learning the primary series of Ashtanga Yoga. I continue to study regularly withexperienced teachers. I studied at Dartington College of Arts and gained a BA(hons) degree in Visual Performance in 1999.
Pam recognises the importance well being and feels yoga can help balance modern life and bring back a sense of harmony. Having previous experience of back and joint issues she has a supportiveunderstanding and patient approach to her teaching. Her classes invite students to explore movement and breath with integrity and learn more about themselves without judgement.
